University Of Western Ontario Faculty Association Collective Agreement

UWOFA negotiates collective agreements, advises members on employment issues, deals with labour disputes and complaints, and promotes the professional interests of faculty members, university librarians and archivists. Probation officers, librarians and archivists may, upon request, receive a one-year extension of their probation period. Members must submit a written renewal request to their dean or chief librarian by December 31, 2020, which is approved. UWOFA negotiated this agreement with the employer in the spring to address the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association represents full-time university professors (excluding clinical medicine) and part-time faculties with tasks that teach at least 0.5 degrees of credit courses in each of the last 3 fiscal years. Why are you against Navitas? They would create a for-profit university on our campus. The people who hire them would not be members of UWOFA, so they would not have the protections that our members have under our collective agreement, that is, not the academic freedom or job security that contract holders have here. Navitas would welcome students who do not meet our access standards. We are also concerned that there will be a lot of pressure on these teachers to relax their academic standards. The CTA-UWO represents the academic clinical faculty with full-time appointments at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. PSAC Local 610 represents registered graduates who participate in supervised teaching activities in the various faculties and schools. Following the ratification of the collective agreement, UWO and UWOFA have accepted Memorandums of Understanding (UG) or Agreements (MOA) that can complement, amend or assist in interpreting parts of this agreement. These documents are now part of the collective agreement. The LDC represents full-time employees who work permanently in leadership and career roles at the university.

Letter of Understanding – Changes to Annual Performance Assessment Processes in 2020-21 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergency declaration of the Management and Civil Protection Act in the broader community, UWOFA officials meet with national and federal policy makers to ensure that members` voices are heard and expressed in decisions on education and work. In addition, UWOFA strives to engage members and citizens through post-secondary education awareness campaigns at general member meetings, community events, contacts with journalists and discussions at City Hall. The association and its members reject the school`s proposed partnership with Navitas, a for-profit training provider for international students. . SAGE represents higher education staff who perform administrative functions that may require access to confidential employment and labour relations information, which necessitates their exclusion from the bargaining unit of the staff association.
